Sociocultural aspects of learning in massive open online courses

 

This project was funded by Israeli Ministry of Science Technology and Aerospace. It centers on the design and delivery of massive open online courses (MOOC) at the Technion. Together with Prof. Hossam Haick, from the Department of Chemical Engineering, we developed the first Technion MOOC on Nanotechnology and Nanosensors. It was the first worldwide MOOC delivered in both Arabic and English. The study discusses challenges and opportunities related to the development of MOOCs. It also examines cultural and social aspects of learning in online large and small groups. Initial findings are described here.
